Fear Not

There is a "saying" that is spread far and wide across the internet.  Sort of a Christian Urban Legend if you will, that the Bible contains 365 verses which reference "Fear Not" or something similar.

I am not here to propagate that, nor am I here to debunk it.  There are plenty of web sites on either side of this out there that are doing the job.  I am also not here to "pimp" David Komolafe's new book "365 Days of FEAR NOT" which is available on 8/31/2012 from fine retailers such as www.christianbook.com (no charge!).  I just saw the cover art and thought it would do nicely for this topic.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter how many there are.  It is splitting hairs on something which, in the long run, is not important.  What is important is that the God of all creation, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, the One, True God in Whom there is only Truth said it at least once!  That settles it.  What was, is and will be all wrapped into one verse, pick a Fear Not verse with a promise, it is TRUTH.  It does not need to be repeated.  One and DONE.  That's it.  Just believe and accept the promise.

Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Even God has to tell Joshua (again!) "Hey, I told you already, 'You got this. You are brave, strong. Nothing to fear or to be confused about, I got your back and will ALWAYS be there!'"

Shouldn't that one time (especially coming directly from God to Joshua) be enough?  What about for us?  We have the luxury of having the Entire Word of God available to us 24/7 in print, audio, digital...you name it.  We have all the diverse and various instances of God's promises to Fear Not.

We should be extremely fearless.  Are you?

Rejoice and be glad.

  1. My all time favorite quote

"25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

This verse got me through many depression episodes, I try to live by it, sometimes its fine, and sometimes I need to read it again for a reminder.

    1. Thank you James. There are so many verses I lean on daily to remind or rebuke myself. Looking forward to hearing how different life is down in LRS.

I will see you again one day! That is a fact. You are a good friend and I appreciate you more than you will ever know.

    1. My Chemo is scheduled until November 22, 2012 for this cycle. I AM training for and planning on Warrior Dash Bastrop/Cedar Creek Texas on November 10, 2012.

Or a Spring dive (pre-Sspring break in SPI) since I really want to get in the Gulf and wreck/platform dive.
