Inventory of my toolbox:
1. Hammer
2. Pliers
3. Assorted screwdrivers
4. Wire hangers/baling wire
5. Duct tape
As you can probably safely assume from the tools I use and own, I am NOT a handy guy to have around the house. I don't really have those skills. My theory has always been 'if I can't fix it with what I know how to use, it can't be fixed.'
My wife has a great attitude about many things; so great, in fact, I am jealous of her ability to handle situations that would normally push me pretty far towards snapping. She is frequently saying "everything is fixable." The ability to take a chaotic situation and just put it aside because in the long run, it is not that important is inspiring to me. Too bad my handyman skills didn't see things like that.
God views things in a similar manner. When we fall and mess up, God knows everything is fixable. He wants us to pick ourselves up, pausing on our knees asking forgiveness and knowing we will receive it, and drive on with what He wants us to do. It really doesn't matter what you have done, you can be forgiven:
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.®
Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. WOW! Our personal stumbling blocks of sin have NO power to keep you from the love of God. Everything is fixable!
When in doubt, take a peek into the Father's toolbox (Dad always has the best tools!):
1. 1 cross
2. 3 nails
3. 1 crown of thorns
4. 3 days
5. 1 borrowed grave (currently vacant!)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."John 3:16-17 (KJV)
Believe, repent (turn away), and move on!
