I feel remiss for quoting the '80s-'90s Glam Rock band Skid Row, but it seemed partially fitting (at least the chorus, the rest of the song is unrelated to the post).
August 19, 1994. 18 years ago. The start of a relationship that spiraled out of control and ended badly. It took 14 years, 3 months and 18 days to end (they left on December 7, 2008). It took 3 years, 9 months, and 4 days to gather the strength to admit to my (x)Wife that I was still in love with her and hoped we could attempt to build something NEW the right way (focused on God more than ourselves-I mean me not focused on me-on July 12, 2012~ish).

18 And Life lyrics © Chrysalis One Music, BMG RIGHTS MANAGEMENT US, LLC
Eighteen and life you got it
Eighteen and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
Eighteen and life to go (Repeat all)Eighteen years gone. Life to look forward to (NOT in the context of the song where it is life in prison, but a life after a new beginning, filled with true love and cherishing and communication!!). Waiting and praying in agreement with warriors that God will redeem the years and "...to give unto [us] beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that [we]might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified." ~Isaiah 61:2-4 (KJV)
Still, there remains a lot of work to be done; however, we are both actively seeking this end. Living patiently for the time to BE. Neither pressing nor attempting to force OUR will upon the situation. Please, (if you are a believing and praying folk) join us in agreement and prayer.
Dearest Heavenly Father, thank You for being able to do more than we could ever ask or think! Help us release the past and focus on You and the future You have for us. You have a plan we never thought possible. Thank You for loving us this much.
